I am a huge fan of sketches, they allow you to create and explore your ideas by giving you a starting point. I use three websites to find great sketches. My current favorite (and the one I use most often) is Let's Scrap. Second would be Scrapbooks, etc. and the one I just found today is Frosted Designs. Links to all three are at the bottom of the page. I will try to label my posts on which ones I've used and if I can get permission to do so, post the sketch I used.
I hope this helps anyone looking for inspiration! If you have any questions, I will do my best to help you out! I am also going to try and give more detail on what I'm doing in my layouts and cards. It's so exciting to get back into the hobby I enjoy the most!
While wondering through Let's Scrap's sketch gallery I came upon a few new ideas to try!
The biggest challenge for me was to leave the blue square off-centered. I really like things to be symmetrical and clean looking. I love how it came out though!
This was a super simple card for my secret sister at church. I really love the colors on this card, so much fun!
This card will be an anniversary (or wedding) card for someone very special. I especially loved getting to use my new favorite ribbon (with butterflies). It was the inspiration for this card's color scheme.
Using this week's Let's Scrap sketch as an inspiration:
This is my all-time favorite layout! It's about my family's reunion last summer, an exciting time for my family! I did several paper-pieced flowers for this layout which was a new skill for me.
Another Let's Scrap Sketch: This is a layout about my daughter's artistic talent. She is a very creative little girl and I wanted to showcase her creations!
A New Year's Eve layout that I am still kind of iffy on. Not sure I like it but I am choosing to let it go! The important part (the pictures) look great and show how much fun we had with the sparklers.
I am so excited to finish off this album! My favorite time of the year is without a doubt Christmas! That's probably why I scrapbook so many Christmas events every year! This first one is my husband's family Christmas party, I free-handed the trees and cut them out in layers to give it a 3 dimensional look.
This next one is a Christmas Eve layout, we have a great tradition of getting the kids all dressed up in their Christmas Jammies and putting out cookies for Santa. This year I was also allowed to open my present early since it was a new camera and Russ wanted me to be able to use it the next day!
This layout was all about Christmas morning here at our house! My favorite time of the entire year is when the kids come out and see their Santa gifts! Their excitement is infectious and we all have a fantastic time together. I tried to limit the journaling on this one because the pictures are so cute!
My last layout of the album was this very simple, elegant page I did about Christmas with my family on Christmas Day. I actually did not do any journaling on this one (which is hard for me to do!) because I didn't want to disrupt the simplistic look of this page, I really love how it came out!
One way to create interest in your pages when you are using similar themes is to use different color schemes!
Here are my layouts for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I really enjoyed the Halloween layout, it's always fun to work with a theme that encourages silliness! The new technique I used on this layout was using glitter glue on the title, not sure I'm in love with the results, but it is a pretty cool technique! I hand cut the ghost at the bottom and the witch is a sticker.
This one was for Alex's Thanksgiving/Fall Program at school. He was so funny with his "binoculars" looking for us. I tried a new technique on this one with the paper weaving in the background, much harder than I expected but I love the way it came out!
I hope this encourages you to try new things with your pages! It's so much fun to learn new things and make them your own!
The first one is of Joseph and his cousin Evan. They are a week apart in age and very different. The second one is my kids at their Christmas Children's Pageant last year. Chloe was a mouse and Alex was a ram.
I really enjoy scrapbooking at the church on craft day. Using the big round tables is so nice, being able to spread out all of my supplies and see everything is awesome. My favorite part though? Talking to the ladies of course!
I've been on a roll this week! I managed to get 4 pages done in 4 days, all with very different themes. The first is actually a 2 pager which I rarely do, it's featuring our zoo trip last year. I handmade the palm tree, but the rest is stickers and paper. The third is my tribute to my Aunt Ruth Ann, who I love! The fourth is a memorial page for my Aunt Cathy (who passed away last year in January). This was the hardest layout I've worked on in a long time, very hard to give justice to this special lady.
